This afternoon my wife and I went to the cinema to see The Bourne Legacy. From my past cinematic experience with the Jason Bourne movies, I was anxiously anticiapting an action-packed thriller; however, I was sadly disappointed.
The movie began with an unknown man in an unknown frozen wilderness who spent the first fifteen minutes in the movie silently walking toward an unknown destination. He eventually made his way to a cabin and another unknown man was introduced. His name and reason for being in the wilderness also remained a mystery. Then other unknown people were introduced who tried to kill the first two unknowns. I would like to tell you that the movie just had a bad start and got better as it progressed, but it did not. The movie seriously lacked something.......what was it......oh yes, A PLOT.
Sounds like a salutary warning, and well heeded here!
I'm glad we're not the only people who go to the cinema in the afternoon :) It seems to be the best way of escaping the potato-chip-eating, cellphone-toting masses these days. 2.00 p.m. on a Tuesday seems pretty good.... wonder if cinema-going has got as bad there as it is here in the UK.....
I grew up loving the cinema, now I can hardly bear to go. Of course, all of this is due to the DVD culture which has taught people that of course it's OK to talk/eat/SMS through the film.....
Did you go to see The Dark Knight Rises? I'd be interested to know your thoughts :)
