the blog of Joseph David Quinton...lover of literary fiction, immigrant narratives, classical fiction, magical realism, world literature, science fiction, fantasy fiction, and cozy mysteries (a guilty pleasure).
On December 29, 2012, Jason Purcell began creating booktube content on theheavyblanks and he has quickly become of of my most favorite booktubers. Jason has a unique ability to speak into the camera in such a way that you feel as if you are participating in an intimate, two-sided conversation about the wonder and amazement of books. Jason is extremely intelligent and personable and I enjoy all of the content which he uploads.
Jason loves Canadian literature, immigrant narratives, and fiction that contain magical and/or mythical elements. His most favorite books include the following:
I am considering implementing a structured blogging schedule which will help me to post content that is relevant and timely. The schedule I am considering would include the following:

Today's Saturday Spotlight is shining brightly upon Sue Moro at Sue's Book Nook.
I have just recently discovered Sue's Book Nook, but am I ever glad that I finally found her booktube channel. Sue began her booktube channel on 21 March 2011 and has currently over 550 subscribers; however, I think she deserves many more subscribers, for her videos are very well made and quite interesting and informative. Not only is she an avid reader, but a talented artist, as well, and she graciously shares some of her artwork within her videos. Sue has an envious job to most book lovers, for she is the shipping manager at Barnes and Noble and gets to gaze at all of the lovely books as they are delivered to her store. She also gets an employee discount which makes all of us within the booktube/bookblog world drool unceasingly.
My appreciation of Sue Moro and Sue's Book Nook is three fold:
Her videos are visually appealing and expertly crafted.
She has demonstrated to me, a 48 year old male, that it is okay to have an appreciation for, and attraction to, YA fiction, no matter what your age.
She possesses an infectious passion for all things Dr. Who and she has kindled within me a strong deisre to learn more about this galaxy-saving Doctor.
Today's Saturday Spotlight is shining brightly upon Ariel Bisssett at Books Unbound. Ariel is a wonderful, enthusiastic booktuber who I think may be one of the best known reviewers in Booktubia! Her reviews are so enjoyable to watch and I am thrilled by her enthusiasm for books. Even though we do not share the same reading tastes, I watch each and every video she makes just to experience the sheer pleasure she has in discussing books.
Ariel and her family recently moved from Canada to Honduras and I cannot wait to see her first video from her new country.
I also owe her much gratitude because she recommended PureDragon100, with whom I share common reading interests.
I am a lover of language and am always mesmerized by the stuning language which Ophelia Dagger employs in her video reviews. It is so enjoyable to me that she selects each word individually and interweaves them carefully into a tapestry of sheer, poetic pleasure. Not only are her reviews filled with beautiful language, but they also contain great intelligence and wit. It is my understanding that Opehlia Dagger is currently working on a novel and I eagerly await its publication with great anticipation.
Today's Saturday Spotlight is shining brightly on Cassidy Tucker and her CassJayTuck channel.
Cassidy is one of my most favorite booktubers. She is funny....really funny....insightlfully intelligent, wonderfully witty, and delightfully sarcastic. She has only been booktubing for five months and already has almost 10,000 subscribers and a little over 750,000 video views. This speaks well of her well-planned reviews. She generally vlogs about Young Adult Fiction, but this is not the entire scope of her reading experience.
I eagerly anticipate each new production that she posts on CassJayTuck!
I have just recently discovered the wonderful world of booktubers, who are people who post video book reviews on their YouTube channel.
I am beginning a new weekly feature, called Saturday Spotlight, which will celebrate one booktuber each week. This will not be a blog post of random booktubers but will be someone who I find to be insightful, intelligent, and interesting in their reviews.
Therefore, my inaugural Saturday Spotlight is shining brightly upon James at PureDragon100. James is a fourteen year old young man from Austalia who is one of the most intellectual and well spoken young men that I have had the pleasure of listening to in quite a long time. He is well-versed in literary terms and devices which make a book either readable or nonreadable, and communicates a book's attributes quite well in his video reviews. Although he is well read across many genres, his interests lie in science fiction and fantasy; two genres that I truly love. Some of his favorite authors include the following: J.R.R. Tolkien, Brandon Sanderson, John Green, George R.R. Martin, and Patrick Rothfuss. If you are in the mood to watch a highly intelliegent youtuber with insightful reviews then you can't go wrong by subscribing to PureDragon100.
